AFI is a place where art, culture, and science unite. We welcome everyone who envisions a better future for both humanity and animals.
Meet Our 1st Researcher, Curie*
*The name “Curie” is inspired by Marie Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the only person to receive it twice in two different scientific fields.
CURIE
The Raccoon
Turning Back the Clock
Do raccoons get used in animal testing? Unfortunately, yes. In 2030, a raccoon labeled as “054” was rescued from a research facility in California. It was given a new name: Curie. Once marked with a numbered tag and awaiting experiments, Curie dramatically escaped the fate of being among the last animals subjected to testing on Earth.
Curie is no ordinary raccoon!
Curie has only faint memories of life before the lab, as she was taken there before turning one. Perhaps that’s why her heart is filled with hope for the future.
As brave as Curie is, sadness sometimes creeps in. Memories of the lab occasionally resurface, leaving her deeply melancholic.
But Curie knows her friends no longer have to endure labs, thanks to advancements in animal-free testing technologies. That’s why she works tirelessly, studying and innovating to develop even better solutions.
AFI’s branding incorporates two distinct font types, symbolizing reason and emotion, as well as the balance between science and art.
The AFI symbol, which might resemble a rabbit at first glance, captures features of various animals, including dogs, cats, raccoons, and mice. This unique design represents unity among different species and embodies the value of equality between humans and animals.
